Muskrat in Canoe
MUSKRAT- Muskrats are unique, semi-aquatic rodents named for their musky smell and rat-like appearance. Native to North America they are cousins to Lemmings and voles. An adult muskrat is about 40–70 cm (16–28 in) long, half of that is the tail, and weighs from 0.6–2 kg (1.3–4.4 lb.). Muskrat's diet is based on aquatic plants such as water lilies, sedges, arrowheads. They use long incisors to grab underwater vegetation. Besides plants, muskrats occasionally eat snails, frogs, insects and fish.
